Is this the right course for me? |
A great taster course for any one interested in exploring the basics of counselling skills. This is an experiential course which involves sharing some of your thoughts and feelings. Therefore the course may not be appropriate for individuals currently being treated for a mental health disorder. |
What will it involve? |
Learning about communications skill, active listening and an introduction into counselling. The course is based on the person centred counselling approach. In addition two other models of counselling will be looked into as a contrast to the course mode. This is an enjoyable course which promotes lively discussion and fun!

Entry requirements & progression route. |
None however a short introductory talk is necessary to ensure that candidates are suitable for the experiential nature of the course. On successful completion of the course students may want to apply for the certificate in counselling skills course. |
Assessment |
80% attendance and a short 1500 word reflective assignment. |
Commencement of course |
Courses run through the year including during the summer. Total hours are 30. |

Total cost is £210.00 i once enrolled onto the course the student is agreeing to commit to completing and paying the full fee which cannot be wavered. |

Intermediate training- JANUARY START 2012
Who is the course for? |
This course will be of benefit to those who work in the caring sector or where their work involves offering counselling skills to others. It is also an essential course for those people who wish to begin there training as a counsellor. |
What will it involve? |
Skills practice with tutor input and self awareness groups. A wide range of topics are studied on the course. These topics come under several headings which are ethical practice, using counselling skills safely, theoretical input on counselling models and self development. Attendance of a compulsory personal development weekend. |
Entry requirements & progression route. |
Completion of the counselling concepts programme or another similar introduction into counselling course. Access to work either paid or voluntary where counselling skills may be used. Interviewing upon receipt of application form. Progression to our diploma in therapeutic counselling via interview selection. |
Assessment |
Practical skills, written assignments based on the topics above, personal learning journal. External assessment requires students to produce a recording demonstrating their skills; this will be accompanied by a short case study. |

Starting Tuesday JANUARY 10TH 2012 |

Course fee £595.00, an awarding body fee of £63.50 plus a residential fee .installments may be available however once enrolled onto the course the student is agreeing to commit to completing and paying the full fee which cannot be wavered. |
