Who is the diploma for? |
The course is open to individuals who wish to be trained to become a professional counsellor. |
Why this diploma? |
The course more than matches the criteria to enable the qualified counsellor to apply for individual BACP accreditation. It is important to note that the tutor guided learning hours are over 430 for the two year period. In addition to this there is a 150 hour placement. The CPCAB diploma has achieved recognition from Open University and has been credited with 120 credit points towards a foundation degree. |
What is the course content? |
The course is made up of 7 units which are based on a model of training developed from research. In brief this covers the following: Ethics, counselling relationship, diversity& mental health issues, working in an agency setting, self awareness, working within a framework of counselling theory and skills, working reflectively.

Assessment |
Internal assessment will consist of a mixture of assignments, portfolio work, practical work, feedback sheets on the following subjects. External assessment consists of a 30 min audio tape (with peers) and a review paper to demonstrate understanding. For example: skills used, ability to check out confidentiality with clients and your understanding of this. |
Future prospects |
Successful completion of the course enables entry onto the level five Diploma in psychotherapy counselling or onto the level five cognitive behavior certificate. |

Cost - employer funded & self-funded.

2011 course fees £ 1,250.00 per year or reduced rate 1,100 self funded, plus an awarding body fee and a mandatory residential fee .installments may be available however once enrolled onto the course the student is agreeing to commit to completing and paying the full fee which cannot be wavered. |

2011 entry –Thursday 5.30 – 9pm plus one Saturday per month.
